Reclaimed floorboards have become increasingly popular in recent years due to the growing interest in sustainable and eco-friendly building practices. Not only are reclaimed floorboards an environmentally responsible choice, but they also add character and charm to any space.

Our history and practice

We supply a number of reclaimed floorboards including versailles panels and reclaimed parquet flooring. We started working with timber as early as 90s when we used to brin timber in from eastern Europe to some of the largest timber agents in the UK. After years of this, we noticed the amount of reclaimed timber of old barn buildings, farm houses and other out buildings. These buildings were no longer in use, however the timber, incluidng oak and pine were as strong as ever and included the markings of its past and history.

Through decades of wear and use, our reclaimed wood has a patina and tone that cannot be created by new oak or pine and thus provides an original look and feel that is unique. Some of our boards come from old beams, cladding or even original floorbaords. However, each piece of oak or pine is selected, prepared and readied for flooring. This timber, is checked, cleaned and fumigated to kill any nasty wood worm or other such live creatures. They are then taken off to be sliced and regularised for use.

We now supply over 10 different types of reclaimed boards including pine and oak. These boards have come from mainland Europe and are ready to be laid and for use. We supply all our boards untreated of any wax or finish as there are many different ways this can be done. Once laid and on site, all boards should be sanded and finished. Treatment can either be with a wax, oil, lacquer or water-based protector. throughout the sales process, we will assist you aloing the way and provide our expert knowledge and help to try and supply the best finish and look possible.

Oak Floorboards

Reclaimed oak floorboards are often salvaged from old barns or factories, giving them a distinctive appearance that can't be replicated with new oak. These boards can vary in color, from light tan to deep brown, and can have a pronounced grain pattern. One of the benefits of using reclaimed oak floorboards is their stability. Oak is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity than softwoods like pine. This makes reclaimed oak floorboards a great choice for areas with high foot traffic or fluctuating moisture levels.
